Sophie Kendrick’s father has gone missing in the jungles of Costa Rica. Desperate for answers to his whereabouts, she decides to search for him herself. She hires Jack Mathison to guide her through the jungle, but the two of them seem to be at odds from the moment they meet. Sophie finds Jack conceited, sarcastic and, worse, very good-looking. He is totally not her type, so how could she possibly be attracted to him?
Likewise, Jack can’t wait to be rid of Sophie and her optimistic outlook. Seriously, how could someone be that nice? Jack isn’t looking for a relationship, and finds the electrifying chemistry between the two of them completely annoying. His job is to lead Sophie to a remote village deep inside the rain forest—her father’s last known location. Still, the jungle is a dangerous place and Jack does everything in his power to protect Sophie, but who will protect his heart?

MY REVIEW (4/ 5 Stars): I just loved this style of book. It had action, romance, adventure, some comedy, heroes, a heroine, travel, danger, jealousy…you name it, it was there and it was kept with a clean language writing!
Sophie is a pediatric surgeon/doctor who has been dating Peter, a lawyer for a year in Denver. Her life is on tract and Peter has a great family who adores her and what she has been missing all of her life. Peter wants to marry her and has given her a ring but she just can’t say yes. Why? There is NO WOW Factor. She truly does care for him but she wants passion and is afraid she just won’t have it but she loves his family and doesn’t want to give that up. What is a girl to do? Peter is giving her some time up to XMAS but he won’t wait forever.
Her family consists of just her Dad, who is in Costa-Rica doing his own studies of the rain forest. She realizes she hasn’t heard from him in > 4 months – just a little too long for comfort. She hired a private investigator, who didn’t work out, so she is going to Costa-Rica herself. She arranged it through her friend, Camille.
Sophie meets Jack and the sparks keep flying. Instant attraction or is it a meltdown of emotions as both have issues with each other. Sophie is determined to stay and look for her father and Jack is determined to have her leave- no women! He is sarcastic but is adorable looking according to Sophie. She has realized that Jack is stirring up those feelings that she thought she wouldn’t have. The trip is eventful and Hector, Jack’s partner helps with emotional battles going on. However, the danger of the rain forest isn’t just from the animals- there are human ones also.
The book ends with both Peter and Jack in the same building with Sophie and both of them wanting Sophie but both are complete opposites. Sophie knows what she wants but is also afraid to ask. She has only been gone abt 2 weeks. It is interesting to see the macho aggressive feelings between the guys as you can picture the two of them, Jack & Peter in front of you. Who do you really root for? It will surprise you how the trip ends and then how the book ends- not telling any secrets here– gotta read it yourself :)))
